  • Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park: Getting there is half the fun. America's largest aerial tramway travels from downtown Gatlinburg slightly over two miles to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park.

  • Arrowmont School and Shop - The school dates back to 1912, when the Pi Beta Phis, the national's oldest college women's fraternity, opened a school for isolated mountain children to supplement their three-month public education. In 1915 it began to revive the mountain crafts of basketmaking and weaving. The shop became the outlet for the sale of the crafts, and it remains so today. Handmade items such as woven placemats and baskets and even clothes can be found here.

  • World's largest aerial tramway, between downtown and Ober Gatlinburg atop Mt. Harrison. It's known as the South's finest ski resort, with eight slopes, a half-mile Alpine slide, indoor ice arena complex and the longest sightseeing chairlift in the South.
  • Twelve Los Vegas-type wedding chapels with no waiting, and everything furnished but the license.
  • Trout fishing in the midst of downtown, from your motel balcony or on the river's edge. Tourists can fish April through November every day except Thursday, when the river is restocked.
  • A year's worth of special events, including the Scottish Highland Games in May, the spring Wildflower Pilgrimage, arts and crafts shows, and one of the state's only nighttime Christmas parades, with lighted floats.
